Wintery Forest Scene In Southwestern Virginia
When I began putting up my
Picture Of The Day, I got into the habit of always taking my camera along
every time Cheria and I go somewhere, even if it's just to the post office.
After all, I never know when a "photographic opportunity" might present itself
so I want to always be prepared.
A while back, we decided to take a drive up U.S. Highway 58 from
Damascus, Va to Konnarock
with the hopes of getting some good pictures of the winter scenery. I think we did ok since
I was able to use two or three of them as Pictures Of The Day. What I didn't
realize is that all the while I was taking pictures of the snowy forest Cheria
was taking pictures of me! I ran across one of her photos while looking
through my archives this afternoon and I decided to use it for today's picture.
The woodlands of southwestern Virginia are very beautiful any time of year, but
the forests in the
Konnarock, Va area are absolutely breathtaking during the winter when the
trees and rocks are covered with snow.
Cheria took this picture about halfway
between Damascus and Konnarock as I was trying to take a picture of
Straight Branch
and the icicles that had
formed around it. Like I said, you never know when a "photographic opportunity"
might present itself...
