Uncle Jerry's Horse

Cheria's Uncle Jerry
doesn't get around as well as he used to, so he spends a lot of time
out on his front porch when the weather is nice. These days, one of
his favorite activities is watching the deer and horses graze in the
field across the road from his house. He often sits there on the
porch enjoying a cool evening breeze, binoculars in hand, eagerly
waiting for the animals to arrive on the scene.
Cheria and I visited Uncle Jerry and Aunt Eleanor for a while
yesterday evening. We had been sitting with them on their spacious
front porch and talking for a while when a deer ambled out of the
woods and began grazing beside a horse, and before long another one
came into view. The two deer and the horse spent several minutes
eating the tall grass while Jerry studied them intently through his
binoculars.
When the sun began to sink low in the sky, Cheria and I bid our
wonderful hosts goodbye and got up to leave. Before we could get to
our car, the horse had walked right up to the fence beside the road
and began nodding it's head. I guess it was telling us goodbye just
like Jerry and Eleanor had done. Without a thorough understanding of
horse psychology its pretty hard to tell what he was up to. But he
did seem like a friendly fellow, so I walked over and took his
picture...right after he stopped nodding and posed for me.
Uncle Jerry enjoys watching the animals frolic around, and there
seems to be plenty of them around to watch. And one of them is now a
Picture Of The Day.
