Why Did My Site Go To PR0 After Adding New Pages?

SEO / traffic-building questions and answers

Question:

Why did my site go to PR0 after adding new pages? I've been working to increase my Google PageRank, and I just added over a dozen pages to my website all linking back to my home page. My page rank immediately dropped from a 3 to a 0 and I don't understand why.

I know I have some graphic issues to fix but those problems were there when the page ranked a PR3. I still have other pages within the site that rank PR3 and didn't change. What did I do wrong?

Answer:

I checked several of your web pages and they are indeed showing a PageRank of 3 (including your home page). If the PR0 is only on the new pages, you didn't do anything wrong. This is normal for new web pages.

When a new web page is uploaded to your website, that page will have an initial Google toolbar PageRank of 0, each and every time. Once Google finds the page and indexes it, it will have a PageRank calculated for it, but you won't see a toolbar PageRank until the next Google update (or even the second update).
