Olivia's "Embarrassing" Birthday Cake

My beautiful granddaughter Olivia is 11 years old today, and as always we threw her a big birthday party. Olivia absolutely loves parties - especially when she's the center of everyone's attention! Well, she was the center of attention of course, and she had a great time greeting friends and family and opening her gifts.

But you should have seen the look on her face when she saw her birthday cake! This year her mom decided to do something a bit different and get her a "picture cake", and the picture she chose was one of Olivia as a small toddler. This embarrassed Olivia to no end because she likes to think of herself as a "young lady" now (a pre-teen as she likes to say), and some of her friends were there to see her embarrassing cake! She quickly got over her embarrassment enough however to be able to enjoy eating a whopping piece of it!

It's difficult to explain just how much I love this little girl. You see, she hasn't always been in my life. I didn't really know her until I began dating Cheria when Olivia was already seven years old. But as my love for Cheria grew, my love for her precious granddaughter grew just as quickly - and I could tell that she really loved me as well. Today, I can't even imagine a life without Olivia being a large part of it. She's my only grandchild and I thank God for bringing us together each and every day.

I got a really good deal when I married Cheria. I now have a wonderful wife who loves me dearly and a lovely granddaughter with golden hair, a twinkle in her eye and a heart as big as the Montana sky. She's growing up all too quickly, and before we know it she'll be dating, leaving for college and eventually making her own way in the world. But she'll always be my precious granddaughter Olivia, the gorgeous little blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl on that cake who stole my heart right along with her grandma.
