London's Buckingham Palace
Today's picture features what is arguably the most famous residence in the world
- London's Buckingham Palace. Ever since 1837 Buckingham Palace has been considered the official London residence of Britain's royal families.
Today, it is the home of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
But Buckingham Palace isn't just the Queen's home. It also serves as the British monarchy's administrative headquarters
as well as the venue for most royal ceremonies and official state visits by world leaders and dignitaries.
Buckingham Palace is also decorated with numerous priceless works of art and
historical artifacts. In fact, if it was an art gallery it would hold one of the
world's most interesting and valuable collections!
London is a favorite destination among those who choose to visit Europe, and
with good reason. This vibrant city is steeped in tradition and stands tall in
the annals of world history. For hundreds of years, British explorers and armies
have traveled the world and colonized much of it. And today, English is one of
the most spoken languages on the planet as a result.
If you're planning your own London vacation, be sure to check out all the
wonderful historical venues that have helped shaped the world as we know it
today...including the one and only Buckingham Palace!
