Mom's Black Eyed Susan Vine
Hanging on my mom's front porch is a very beautiful Black Eyed Susan Vine.
It was given to her on Mother's Day by her niece Catherine who lives in West
Virginia. After mom's sister Pearl passed away, she and Catherine became very
"close" to one another. In fact, Catherine has called her "Mom" ever since.
We have all been amazed at how well mom's Black Eyed Susan Vine has done since
we hung it up on the porch in early May. It has not just survived, it has
flourished. But that's par for the course with
mom and her flowers - they always
do extremely well!
We all love mom's Black Eyed Susan Vine, and apparently the wildlife does as
well. If you look closely at the second picture you'll see a bird nest that was
built sometime during the last six weeks or so. The birds are gone now, the
little ones apparently raised and off on their own. But mom still enjoys looking
at the nest from time to time as a reminder of the life and love given
in that precious flower...
And so it is with mom and my cousin Catherine. The Lord called Aunt Pearl home
several years ago, but her love for mom lives on through her daughter...and
through the beautiful vine hanging on mom's front porch.
