There are lots of factors that can affect the way your skin looks, and stress is definitely one of them

Product companies will focus on applying the right creams and lotions, but you can also work wonders by making sure you take care of yourself. Considering the fact that stress can damage your body on the whole, it’s no wonder that it can impact your face in such a dramatic way.

Luckily, there are things you can do on a daily basis to reduce stress levels and improve the look of your skin. It might take a small shuffle in your daily schedule, but it’s worth it in the long run. [Read more…]

Portion Control: The Dieting Secret No One Wants To Talk About

Posted on March 11, 2012

When it comes to losing weight, there’s plenty of advice out there. But there is one critical secret to weight loss that is hardly ever talked about, and that is portion control.  That’s because portion control doesn’t satisfy the public’s desire of a quick fix for easily losing weight, yet it is a crucial component of losing weight – and probably the one thing that will guarantee weight loss even if you do nothing else.

Whether you are counting calories, limiting carbs, lowering your fat or boosting your metabolism, one thing is for certain and that is that eating less food will result in a loss of weight.

Keeping Up The Volume With Portion Replacement

But eating smaller portions doesn’t necessarily mean having less food on your plate, there are certain things you can do so that you can make your volume of food equal to what you normally eat or even larger. Five Reasons to Study Abroad in New Zealand

Posted on March 9, 2012

Usually when students have the opportunity to study abroad, they think of Europe. Italy, Spain, France and the UK have always been great destinations for a semester of cultural immersion and travel, but if you have an appetite for adventure I recommend you take the path less traveled and head for New Zealand!

Even if you were over Lord of the Rings ten years ago, you’ll still find yourself enchanted by these five aspects of Kiwi Life (and if you are a Tolkien-phile, you probably already have your ticket to New Zealand booked, so these reasons are all icing on top).

1- The Food

The food in New Zealand is diverse, with influences from both Europe and Asia. The seafood is fresher than fresh, (sushi is very popular and incredibly high quality) and the meat is free-range so you’ll find it’s much tastier than what we are used to in the US. Even the milk tastes better, (and therefore so does the chocolate and ice cream). I especially loved the Turkish kebabs and meat pies. Rack of lamb will never taste go good as it does in New Zealand, where the dish is famous. Check out Burgerfuel; with locations around the country and student friendly prices, you can’t miss, even if you are a vegetarian. Additionally, New Zealand is famous for great wine, so if you have a healthy appetite and are an aspiring wino like myself, you’ll be on cloud nine in this country. [Read more…]

Here are just 5 drains on your income that you’d do well to avoid:

1 – The Lottery

Frequently referred to as a “tax on stupidity”, lotteries run by both local and national governments offer those optimistic enough to buy a ticket with such phenomenally long odds of winning, they make casinos seem positively altruistic.

Admittedly, if you buy a ticket, you just might win, but the list of things more likely to happen is long and illustrious, including being struck by lightning among many other far-fetched scenarios. [Read more…]
