The threats against children who venture online are growing more severe day by day. Every time children use a computer they are vulnerable to exploitation. Fortunately, there are several practical measures that parents can implement to keep their children safe online.

Risks include exposure to inappropriate images, exposure to unknown contacts on Internet chat rooms and forums, online bullying, illegal downloads and piracy of copyrighted material, coercion to disclose personal information, spyware and viruses, and unwanted advertising for unnecessary and expensive products.

Some ISPs provide parental controls for browsers, blocking certain types of sites from access by children, but for peace of mind it it’s a good idea to use a good software tool for keeping your kids safe while surfing the Internet. [Read more…]
