25 amazingly successful people who started out as abject failures

Posted on April 24, 2011

Living (and loving) Life

In terms of quantity, more history books could be filled with stories of people to gave up, were told to quit and did, or never even tried in the first place than could be written of those who eventually succeeded. But then again, that wouldn’t make for very interesting history.

Here are 25 people – past and present – who failed, were discouraged, or otherwise had reason to throw in the towel, but didn’t. And because of their persistence and dedication, they eventually made it into the history books.

1 – Albert Einstein: The man who won the Nobel Prize and became the authority on physics was, as a child, thought to be stupid and was eventually kicked out of school.

2 – Zane Grey: After following in his father’s footsteps and becoming a dentist, Grey continued his first passion of storytelling. Despite multiple rejections of his books, he was eventually published and became a very well-known author.

3 – Charlie Chaplin: The iconic character almost never came to be as he was initially turned down by studio executives.

Golfers: Get rid of back pain to improve your game

Posted on April 24, 2011

Most golfers strive to enjoy their endless pursuit of the lowest possible score. To reach your fullest potential on the golf course, it’s important to keep your body in the best possible health and condition. Often, back pain is a worrisome complaint among many golfers and finding back pain relief is of the greatest priority. After all the hard work you’ve put into perfecting your swing, back pain can impede your success and add unwanted strokes to your score.

If you often find yourself racing out of the locker room and onto the tee box, consider finding a moment to do a few stretches before taking that first, powerful drive.

Six tips for fresher breath

Posted on April 21, 2011

Halitosis, or bad breath, is one of the most common oral health concerns. The tricky part about having bad breath is that you might never know whether your breath stinks or not unless someone tells you.

There are a number of reasons why a person might have bad breath, which includes underlying diseases. Diet, stress, cigarette smoking and alcohol consumption may also trigger halitosis, but bad breath can easily be addressed if it is caused by one or more of these factors. Here are a few tips for dealing with bad breath:

1 – Brush your teeth regularly

This is probably the most overlooked advice out there. The fact of the matter is that food debris left after eating encourages bacterial growth. For this reason, it is always a good habit to brush your teeth after each meal. Just because you brushed your teeth before eating your breakfast does not mean you’ll have fresh breath throughout the day. When brushing, make sure to pay special attention to your tongue, cheek and teeth.

Wedding traditions that have stood the test of time

Posted on April 21, 2011

In this day and age the trend for weddings is moving away from very traditional and formal occasions to more relaxed, fun and personal celebrations. With less expectation to bide by tradition, many couples want their special day to be unique, reflecting their tastes, personalities and interests. However despite this trend it’s interesting that although there are several traditions that have fallen by the wayside and forgotten over time, there are still many wedding traditions that have stood the test of time, prevalent throughout the world and little changed from their origins hundreds of years ago.
