Dad's Maple Tree & The Flag

Dad's Maple Tree & Flag

Today's picture features a colorful image of two of God's most meaningful creations: The flag of the United States and a beautiful maple tree in autumn. We Americans well understand the meaning behind the flag. But a maple tree? Allow me to explain...

When my dad passed away in July of 2000, he was deeply loved and missed by his family (and he still is). Knowing how much my sister-in-law loved him, her co-workers at the Mountain Home Veterans Affairs Hospital kindly took up some money and gave it to her in remembrance of dad. She and my brother decided to use the gift to purchase a tree which would be planted as a living memorial to the man we all love and miss so much. The maple tree in the photo is that tree.

My brother and his wife, both proud veterans, love their country very much. They proudly fly the Stars and Stripes on their front lawn for all the world to see. Any time you pass by their house you'll see that beautiful American flag standing tall and proud and that precious maple tree standing nearby. Two tokens of love and affection... One for a man loved and missed, the other for the country he loved.
