Friends Bonding At Lake Oliphant

Gene & Sage at Lake Oliphant

Today's picture features Gene and Sage enjoying a relaxing moment at Chester, South Carolina's Lake Oliphant. Sage is an exceptionally well-behaved dog who is friendly to everyone, but he especially enjoys spending time with Gene. You might even say they have become best buddies.

We spent this past Sunday afternoon watching skydivers fall to earth at Chester's Skydive Carolina. We were treated to a dazzling display of maneuvers and bravery, including a tandem jump featuring Gene strapped to a "newbie". Before the aerial action got underway, we had just enough time for a short walk down to the shore of Lake Oliphant where I was able to capture this photo.

Lake Oliphant is a beautiful 40 acre lake that is managed by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. A fisherman's paradise, it is stocked with largemouth bass, blue catfish, bluegill, shellcracker and bream. There is also a very nice picnic area where you can enjoy a relaxing lakeside meal while watching the ducks swim by or maybe even a deer emerging from the woods.

The next time you're in the Charlotte, NC area, why not take a short drive across the state line to Chester where you can watch people fall from the sky (perhaps even do it yourself!) and visit scenic Lake Oliphant both in the same day!
