Border Bash On State Street - Bristol, VA-TN
Every third Friday during the warm-weather months of May through September, The
500 block of State
Street in downtown Bristol, VA-TN comes alive from 5pm-8pm with the sights
and sounds of the monthly "Border Bash".
The appropriately named Border Bash is a monthly "meet & greet"
featuring a live band, activities for the children, and vendors selling many
interesting items as well as food and drinks. Why is it called the Border Bash?
Because the center of the road is the literal state line between Virginia
and Tennessee (hence the
thoroughfare's name: State Street).
Today's picture features local band Southern
Highway performing last evening at the July 2005 Border Bash. The band
delighted the crowd with a wide variety of music ranging from Lynyrd Skynyrd to
Garth Brooks while guests young and old danced and enjoyed each other's company.
It's easy to get to the Border Bash - just take Exit 3 of I-81 and go straight
into downtown Bristol, then turn left onto State Street. If you're coming from
the Johnson City, TN area, follow highway 11E into Bristol and turn right onto
State Street. You can't miss it...
