A View From Above The Clouds

View of the ground from aboard an airplane.

Flying for the first time can be quite an experience if you aren't too nervous to enjoy it. Flying along above the clouds gives you a whole new perspective on the earth and its place in the universe.

If you fly high enough you can see many land formations at the same time - rivers, open grassland, golf courses, mountains and more. And seeing the curvature of the earth for the first time really drives home the fact that we're all just riding through the universe on a spherical hunk of rock!

Today's picture is a great example of the type of views you can enjoy from an airplane. You can quite literally look down on the clouds, and you can even see the shadows they cast on the ground below. It's easy to determine where the borders between adjacent properties are and where grass or other plant life is growing.

This picture reminds me of the first time I went up in a plane - how I sat stiff in my seat during take-off - eagerly, yet nervously waiting for us to gain altitude. My memories of that first airplane flight will stay with me forever, and so will my awesome appreciation of God's handiwork that resulted from it!
