O'linda & Brittney Dancing To Bluegrass Music
Most of our Bluegrass Music
themed "Pictures Of The Day" feature the performers, but today we
decided to deviate from that tradition and feature a very friendly
mother-daughter dance team - O'linda & Brittney Coor from Richmond,
Virginia.
O'linda and Brittney were in the Bristol,
TN-VA area visiting O'linda's parents (Brittney's grandparents) who brought
them along with them to last night's Bluegrass Music concert under the Country
Music mural on State
Street. Being new to the world of Bluegrass, they weren't familiar with the
styles of dancing that typically accompany it. But Brittney was determined to
learn how to dance to the Bluegrass sound so she coaxed her mom into joining her
out in the dance area. Before long they had it mastered...
Brittney,
an 8-year-old 3rd grader, reminded me of my granddaughter Olivia because she was
eager to participate but quite reluctant to do it alone...hence the coaxing of
her mom out into the dance area with her.
Brittney also reminded me of Olivia in another way: she loves posing for the
camera! I got her to show her beautiful smile by calling her crazy names like
John and Bill and Tom, and she loved it.
Most children seem to enjoy Bluegrass music because of its fast tempo, and
Brittney seemed to enjoy it as well - I think she wore her mom out with
the dancing!
O'linda & Brittney appeared to be having a great time at their very first
Bluegrass Music concert and I really enjoyed photographing them. They plan to
visit the Pickin' Porch this Thursday night and the
Carter Fold on Saturday, so
perhaps their dancing has only just begun!
