Tanner Honeycutt At The Pickin' Porch

Tanner Honeycutt at the Pickin' Porch

Over the years the Mountain Empire has become a hotbed for Bluegrass Music. Each and every week Bluegrass and Old-Time musicians hit the stage at many local venues including the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Va, The Pickin' Porch Show in Bristol, Va and many others.

The roots of Bluegrass music run deep in our region, and the love of pickin' and singin' has been handed down to the next generation of many families for many years. One fine example of the latest generation of Bluegrass musicians is featured in today's picture: nine year old Tanner Honeycutt.

Tanner took the stage at last night's Pickin' Porch Show and the audience quickly learned just how well he plays the guitar. He wowed the crowd with several old favorites, including the Carter Family standard "Keep On The Sunny Side". His performance was easily the highlight of the entire show!

It will ultimately be up to youngsters like Tanner Honeycutt to keep Bluegrass and Old-Time music alive, and that task appears to be in very capable hands!
