A few weeks ago Cheria and I decided to place a couple of
birdhouses in the trees in
our back yard. Like my dad and
mom, we both enjoy
watching our feathered friends flitter around and have a great time on our
property. We selected a couple of trees and attached two birdhouses from
Roger's Trading Post to them,
and then
went back inside to await the arrival our new tenants.
It will soon be springtime here in the
Abingdon, Virginia area which
means the sweet smell of flower
blossoms will once again fill the air and the
birds will start building nests
in which to lay their eggs and raise their young hatchlings. With any luck, a
bird family or two will take up residence in our new birdhouses.
After a rather mild beginning, winter came on strong beginning last week and
blanketed the region with a few inches of the white stuff. It quickly warmed
back up however, and the snow melted after sticking around only a day or two.
After several warm days we awoke this morning to find yet another winter
wonderland just outside our back door. I happened to notice the snow-covered
birdhouse hanging in one of our trees, so I grabbed my camera and snapped off
the "Picture Of The Day"!
