Olivia Trying Out Her "New" Sled
Last winter was sort of a bust here in the
Abingdon, Virginia area. We
had to endure some cold temperatures but the kids were disappointed that we
didn't get any significant snowfalls. And for a while it seemed that this winter
would be even milder than last year's. In fact, January 2006 tuned out to be one
of the warmest ever for our region.
But that all changed a few days ago. For the past few days the daytime
temperatures have failed to make it up to normal levels, and yesterday the snow
finally arrived at our home - not a lot mind you, but enough to make for some
great sledding!
My beautiful granddaughter
Olivia had been
waiting for this snowfall for quite some time because she had received a shiny red sled for
Christmas...not the Christmas we just celebrated a couple of months
ago - Christmas 2004! The lack of measurable snow had prevented her from using
her new sled for over a year!
Well, today she was able to pull that shiny "new" sled out of storage and get
down to business - and the result is the "Picture Of The Day".
