Sunset Over New York Harbor

New York Harbor At Sunset

New York Harbor is beautiful any time, but I love this picture of the harbor fading into nighttime under a setting sun. New York might be the "city that never sleeps", but Lady Liberty seems to be taking a rest after yet another day of standing tall in the harbor - proudly serving as the primary beacon of freedom in a troubled world.

New York City has long served as the financial capitol of the world. On any given day, the city is packed with people from virtually every country who are making business deals and spreading the world's money supply around from nation to nation - in fact, most of the world's business takes place right here in the Big Apple!

New York is one of the world's most ethnically diverse cities, and for good reason. For years she has welcomed immigrants from every corner of the globe with open arms, offering them the promise of freedom and a better way of life - and she has delivered on that promise.

Most newcomers to America appreciate the opportunities they find in their adopted land, but not all. Lady Liberty still welcomes the downtrodden of the world, but she is no doubt saddened by those who come here with ill intentions - and her patience may soon run out. A sunset over New York Harbor is a spectacular sight, but it will be a sad day when the sun goes down on America's ability to welcome those who seek refuge on her shores.
