Butterfly Working On An Azalea Blossom
Today's picture shows a beautiful butterfly extracting nectar from an azalea
blossom. My brother Junior has spectacular flowering plants, vines and trees
growing all over his large yard, so there are always plenty of insects "working"
there every spring.
The symbiotic relationship between insects and flowers is one of God's most
interesting creations. The insects benefit by being able to harvest the plants'
sugary nectar, and in return the plants benefit by having their pollen spread to
other plants for the purpose of cross-pollination. It's one of nature's
true win-win situations!
The butterfly in the picture above is working on a large azalea bush (pictured
below) that grows in Junior's yard. Azaleas, which are members of the
rhododendron family, are available in many varieties and colors. If properly
cared for, they can get rather large and provide a sea of color for your
landscape.
Your local garden center should have several varieties of azaleas for you to choose from, so if you want to add some color to your lawn and garden, pay them a visit and pick up a few!
