Today's picture features a colorful water tower in the small town of Wytheville, Virginia. Painted to look like a hot air balloon, Wytheville's water tower receives a lot of attention from passing motorists as they travel along Interstate 81.

But Wytheville isn't alone in having a painted water tower. Many localities across the United States have painted their towers and tanks as a way of expressing their individuality or showcasing a local item of interest.
