Windows XP: How To Disable Error Reporting

Turn off Windows XP's annoying error reporting feature

Windows XP has a very annoying error reporting feature. When a system error occurs, a box pops up asking if you want to report the error to Microsoft. Most people don't. If you're one of them, you can simply disable error reporting altogether.

Here's how:

  1. Right click My Computer
  2. Click Properties
  3. Click Advanced
  4. Click Error Reporting
  5. Select the Disable error reporting radio button
  6. Check the box beside But notify me when critical errors occur
  7. Click Ok
Error reporting to Microsoft is now turned off but you'll still be notified by the system when an error occurs.
