The Duck Pond At Virginia Tech

Visit most any college or university campus in the United States and there is a good chance you'll see a duck pond. A duck pond provides a relaxing environment where students can get outdoors and escape from the daily routine of college life. They also beautify the campus and make it more attractive to visitors and prospective students. Today's picture features the duck pond at Virginia Tech, one of the nation's most prestigious public universities. My wife and I recently spent some time driving around the Tech campus taking photos and spurring memories. It was a dark, rainy afternoon so we didn't expect the pictures to turn out so well, but many of them turned out just fine...like this one of the duck pond. There were several ducks waddling around on the banks and swimming in formation -  I suppose they were taking advantage of the opportunity to get just a little bit wetter. Raindrops the size of gumballs were splashing onto the water - not many, just enough to generate hundreds of simultaneous little ripples on the pond's surface. It was a mesmerizing sight!
