The Tavern Restaurant - Abingdon's Oldest Building

The Tavern Restaurant - Abingdon, Virginia's Oldest Building

The historic town of Abingdon, Virginia has several old buildings dating back well over 200 years. The oldest building of all was established in 1779 - the historic and beautifully restored Tavern Restaurant.

This timeless structure started out as a combination tavern and overnight inn along a stage coach line, but over the years it has served many purposes including a general store, a barber shop, a bakery, a post office and several others. For decades now, The Tavern has served as Abingdon's premier fine-dining restaurant.

When you visit Abingdon, be sure to take a step back in time and enjoy a sumptuous meal at The Tavern Restaurant. But please be prepared to allot approximately two hours for your dining experience - it can take that long to prepare your meal and for you to fully enjoy the 18th century atmosphere of The Tavern!
