Squirrel Feeder In Use

Squirrel Feeder
Photo submitted by my niece Melissa.

I simply love watching squirrels scamper around gathering nuts or just sitting and watching me just as intently as I'm watching them. Squirrels are quite popular (and ubiquitous) in urban parks, on college campuses...most anywhere that trees are present.

A great way to attract squirrels to your own property is to install a squirrel feeder or two. There are several types of squirrel feeders available, but one of the simplest and most effective is simply a board with a nail or other object positioned so that it will hold a dry ear of corn.

Today's picture features one of these simple, yet obviously effective squirrel feeders. My niece's neighbor took the above photo of a squirrel dining at a feeder mounted on a tree in her yard.
