The Seattle Space Needle

The Seattle Space Needle At Night

The Seattle Space Needle is the focus of today's picture. The Space Needle was built in Seattle, Washington to serve as the focal point of the 1962 Seattle World's Fair, but it quickly became the most recognizable symbol of the city. Today, when most people think of Seattle, the Space Needle is the first thing that comes to mind.

This amazing tower is one of the 20th century's true engineering marvels. It stands 605 feet high on long, massive steel legs that are anchored by a 120 foot square block of concrete sunk into the earth. The structure was designed with high winds and major earthquakes in mind, and it has survived both in great shape.

The Space Needle is a must-see venue for any Seattle vacation. It sports a modern gift shop, a wonderful buffet restaurant with a spectacular 360 degree view and one of the world's most exciting (and most popular) observation decks. And best of all,  if you plan your visit to Seattle around the Space Needle you'll be just blocks away from the city's most popular attractions!
