Cloudy Sunset At Mosquito Lake

Today's picture was taken last evening at Trumbull County, Ohio's Mosquito Lake while the setting sun was hiding behind some clouds. I got so many beautiful shots of the lake area that it was quite difficult deciding which one to use - my wife helped me out by choosing this one.

Over the past weekend, we took a very enjoyable (and much too short) vacation to the Warren, Ohio area to visit my wife's aunt and her wonderful family. We really only had one day for sightseeing, so after a short visit to the town of Warren we took a drive over to Mosquito Lake. We walked around for a bit snapping pictures and enjoying the view, then as we were walking back to the car this amazing scene caught my eye. I grabbed a small digital camera and got off a quick shot or two, and the result is today's "Picture Of The Day".

Mosquito Lake is one of the largest and most interesting lakes in the state of Ohio. The Trumbull County area has an unusually large number of days with cloud cover each year so summertime temperatures are very moderate on average. This helps keep Mosquito Lake State Park relatively cool and enjoyable for many outdoor activities including camping, boating, swimming, hiking, fishing, picnicking and much more.

The area's large marshes and mature woodlands are home to many species of wildlife including gulls and numerous other birds, making the park a special treat for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts of all types.
