The Moon Over Boulder, Colorado

Today's photo of the moon glowing brightly over the city of Boulder, Colorado is a perfect example. Nighttime photography presents some special challenges, even for an experienced photographer. Exposure times, shutter speeds and film speed must all be adjusted to compensate for the low-light environment. Getting it right isn't easy, but when you do the resulting picture is a masterpiece.  In the photo above, the moon casts an orange glow above the city lights, providing a stark contrast in colors and light levels. The night sky over any city makes for a great picture, and a full moon makes it even better! If you're interested in nighttime photography, load up your camera, a tripod and some hot coffee, then head for the hills or some other high vantage point.
