Mesothelioma Symptoms

The warning signs of Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma is a very difficult cancer to catch early because the symptoms of Mesothelioma may not even appear until up to 50 years after the exposure to asbestos occurred.

Shortness of breath and chest pain are often symptoms of pleural Mesothelioma because fluid accumulates in the pleura.

The symptoms of peritoneal Mesothelioma usually include unexplained weight loss and abdominal pain because a buildup of fluid in the abdomen causes swelling.

Other symptoms of peritoneal Mesothelioma include anemia,  fever, bowel obstruction, and blood clotting abnormalities.

In cases where the cancer has already spread beyond the mesothelium to other parts of the body, the common symptoms of Mesothelioma include pain, difficulty swallowing, and/or swelling of the face and neck.

Another factor that makes Mesothelioma difficult to catch early is the fact that these symptoms are also indicative of many other common ailments besides Mesothelioma.

This is why it is extremely important to see a physician if you notice any of these symptoms!
