Purchasing A Lawn Tractor

How to get the right lawn tractor for you and your property.

Lawn Tractor A good lawn tractor can make your yard and garden maintenance a lot easier, especially if you have a lot of property to keep up. Here are a few tips for selecting the best lawn tractor for you and your property:
  1. First of all, do you even really need a lawn tractor? If your yard is not much larger than your house, probably not. I regularly see people attempting to mow a 100' x 50' lot with a huge lawn tractor. They barely have room to turn it around!

  2. How much grass do you need to mow? Does your lawn cover 1/3 of an acre of land? 1/2 acre? An acre or more? The more yard you have to mow, the more horsepower and cutting width you'll need.

  3. What exactly do you want your lawn tractor to be able to do? If all you want to do is mow the lawn, a basic tractor will do just fine. If you want to pull a trailer or use garden attachments you'll need to make sure that your lawn tractor has the equipment necessary to use them.

  4. Do you prefer a specific brand? These days most brands of lawn tractors are very good. You could opt for a high-end model from John Deere, an economical Murray or something in between. Buy whatever you want, but be prepared to pay a premium for the more expensive name brands.
Conclusion - The best lawn tractor for you might not be the most expensive model or one that's a step bigger than your neighbor's. Spend only what you need to spend in order to get a good tractor that does exactly what you need it to do. Anything more is overkill.
