Charlie Holliday & Free Grass

Charlie Holliday & Free Grass on The Pickin' Porch Show

Regular viewers of The Pickin Porch Show are quite familiar with Charlie Holliday (seated) because he makes frequent guest appearances whenever the VW Boys are performing. If he happens to be in the audience - and he usually is - Tim White invites him to bring his guitar or mandolin up onto the stage to pick and sing a few tunes with them. Charlie is always happy to oblige, and the audience really enjoys watching him perform.

Well, last night Charlie and his band Free Grass were the featured performers at the Pickin' Porch for the first time. Charlie and the gang were on the stage for the better part of two hours, and they put on an outstanding show that had the audience clapping and singing along on almost every song.

The Damascus, Virginia area was well represented with Tracy Moretz and Travis Proffitt of the wonderful Bluegrass-Gospel group The Mountain Valley Boys helping Charlie out on dobro and banjo respectively. In fact, everyone on the stage during last night's show did an excellent job, and the two hours between 7 and 9 pm flew by much too quickly!
