Flowering Dogwood Tree

Flowering Dogwood Tree

The Flowering Dogwood tree is one of America's favorite trees. Its beautiful white or pink crossed leaves have just a hint of red and brown on their tips, symbolizing the blood shed by Christ.

In our part of the country, in the beautiful Abingdon, Virginia area, many lawns have one or more Flowering Dogwoods in bloom each and every spring.

Today's picture features a white Dogwood tree in full bloom. We found this tree while driving through nearby Bristol, VA-TN, an area that has a multitude of Dogwoods, both white and pink.

The Flowering Dogwood tree is so loved here in Virginia that the state legislature has designated it the official "State Flower". If you think they're special too, why not plant a Dogwood sapling or two of your own?
