Elaine Coe Singing Praises To The Lord

Cheria's good friend Elaine Coe loves to sing Gospel music. We love to hear her use her beautiful voice and amazing vocal range to sing praises to the Lord whenever the opportunity arises. Every month in which there are five Sundays, members of several Mountain Empire Churches of God get together on the last Sunday in one of the churches for an evening of fellowship and special singing - a Unity Service. Elaine is always nice enough to invite us along and we always accept whenever we can.

This month's Unity Service was held last evening at the First Church Of God in Chilhowie, Virginia, a very beautiful church that was just bursting at the seams with friendly people and wonderful singers. With Elaine's permission, I took my camera along and took a few pictures. Today's picture is one of them.

Cheria and I are always amazed at how enthusiastic the members of the various Churches of God are when it comes to singing - they always sing out loudly and they do it very well! We both grew up in Widener Valley, Virginia's Pleasant View Baptist Church, a wonderful house of worship where there was always plenty of great singing...but it was much more low-key. In contrast, the Church of God folks really sing out, making for a very enjoyable evening of great Gospel music.

During last night's service, members from each church performed two songs each. Elaine's Abingdon, Virginia church was scheduled to sing first, so a group of singers from her church took microphones in hand and did an excellent job on a very pretty song.

Next, it was Elaine's turn. As usual, she did an outstanding job belting out a beautiful number called "Holy of Holies". She has a way of reaching the highest of notes and holding them for what seems like days. Elaine is a wonderful singer and she really enjoys using her talent to sing praises to her God - as do all of the participants in the Mountain Empire Church of God Unity Services.
