The Virginia Creeper Trail - Damascus, VA

The Virginia Creeper Trail in Damascus, Virginia.

The weather was absolutely beautiful yesterday in Damascus, Virginia so I decided to take my camera and go for a walk along the Virginia Creeper Trail. I snapped today's picture just as a group of bikers were crossing the trestle over Beaver Dam Creek.

Damascus has become a haven for those who enjoy outdoor activities - especially hiking and biking. Several of the country's most scenic trails pass through or converge at Damascus, including the spectacular Creeper Trail. As a result, several bike rental shops and outfitters have opened their doors here in recent years and they all stay very busy.

Biking the Virginia Creeper Trail is easy - just bring your own bike or rent one at one of Damascus' bike rental shops. You can even take one of the popular shuttles up to Whitetop Station and ride your bike back to Damascus - 17 miles of breathtaking scenery, almost all of which is downhill!
