Magnificent Balmoral Castle

In the shadow of Lochnagar Mountain in the Scottish highlands sits Balmoral Castle, one of the most magnificent castles in the world. Ever since Queen Victoria purchased the Balmoral estate way back in 1848, this amazing castle has served as the British Royal Family's Scottish vacation home.

Located on 50,000 acres of spectacular scenery in the upper River Dee Valley, Balmoral estate is a favorite part-time home and playground for the Queen, her family, and their very close friends. If Her Majesty isn't in London, chances are she's at Balmoral - especially during the months of August and September.

There is much to see and do at Balmoral estate, and over 85,000 visitors come here each and every year. Guided tours are available which allow you to see the countryside and its many species of plants and animals in their natural Scottish habitats. Many other exciting activities such as hiking, road racing and art exhibitions make Balmoral a great place to spend your next European vacation!
