A Pond In Abingdon, Va

A pond offers pleasures of many varieties including a beautiful view, relaxation, and an atmosphere conducive to peaceful reflection. The one featured in today's photo certainly offers all of that and more, and it can be found in beautiful and historic Abingdon, Va, a southwestern Virginia town filled to the brim with one sensory treasure after another! The Abingdon area features many ponds that are just as scenic as this one. Seldom do I pass one without allowing my mind to drift back to years past when dad would be fishing from the bank while us kids were swimming on the other side. He always managed to catch a few and we always managed to have a wonderful time, just dreading the words that we knew would come: "Come on young-uns, we have to go!"
